Armor
Armor in Tree of Life uses specific stats to improve your character's armor value. As you can see, light and medium armors gain a bonus equal to one of your attribute modifiers, as well as have a prerequisite to using some of them.
For example, Holy Armaments require an Insight score of at least 14 to wear. If you don't meet the Insight requirement, you can still wear the Holy Armaments, however, you would not get the benefit of your Wisdom modifier adding to your Armor Value.
Weapons
There are a wide range of weapons to increase variety and fit player fantasy. There is some overlap in the weapon types and damage, and this is on purpose. The more weapon types play a larger role with magic items and player identity.
The core pieces of the weapon are:
- Type (1-Hand or 2-Handed)
- Damage die
- Range
Depending on the world and setting you're running, it's up to the GM on what items are or aren't allowed. For instance, the Flintlock weapons may not be in the universe your character lives in, and it is always best to talk with your GM when making decisions on items for your characters.
Weapon Types
Weapons have a specific type, which reflects what you use when making attacks with said weapon. The four weapon types are Arcane, Discipline, Holy, and Martial; to reflect the Tree.
Arcane
1d20 + ARC
Discipline
1d20 + DIS
Holy
1d20 + INS
Martial
1d20 + MAR
Some weapons share types (signified with a letter and / ). When you're using a weapon that share's multiple types, you may choose whichever stat is higher when making attacks. For example, the Quarterstaff has the type "D / H / M" which means, you can use Discipline (DEX), Holy (WIS), or Martial (Strength) when you make an attack and deal damage against a target.
